First of all, I would like to introduce myself to those of you reading this who may not know who I am. My name is Jack Poulter and I am the new product specialist here at Brigantia for Heimdal Security. Whilst I have only recently started my role this month, some of you may know me, as I have been working for Brigantia since the start of 2019.
Heimdal Security currently offers a formidable defence for any customer as a next-generation anti-malware solution. However, my blog today will introduce you all to an exciting new product which Heimdal Security has added to their already outstanding product suite.
What is it?
This impressive product is called MailSentry. Its purpose is to sit alongside your existing mail filtering system to protect you and your clients against CEO fraud and Business Email Compromise (BEC).
What is Business Email Compromise (BEC)?
BEC is an exploit in which the attacker gains access to a corporate email account and spoofs the owner’s identity to defraud the company, its employees, customers and partners of money.
The cost of BEC is on the rise and has just overtaken the cost of ransomware at £21.13 Billion per year. Your existing spam filter is no longer enough to stop these modern threats in the current landscape. For this reason, Heimdal has created MailSentry to complement any spam filtering tool. By adding MailSentry, you are adding additional layers of protection to your clients and in turn, an extra revenue stream.
How does it do so?
MailSentry prevents these BEC attacks through multiple features. Firstly, it uses a unique live threat intelligence which draws information from the infrastructure used by hackers (Some of you may recognise this from the Heimdal Thor Foresight product which won the Anti-Malware Solution of the Year Award in 2018). MailSentry combines email signature scans to word scans, detecting changed IBAN Codes. This then checks those codes against a list of known fraudulent IBAN codes. These are just two of 125 different vectors put into an algorithm which in turn gives it a risk score. If determined as a credible risk, the email is flagged and the user can then choose to raise this with Heimdal’s designated specialist support team of experts which analyse those emails 24/7 (This is not just for current emails as MailSentry scans historic emails too).
From this, I’m sure you will agree that MailSentry is here to fill a gap in the market and form a formidable defence against CEO fraud and BEC. Wish to learn more about MailSentry?
