Brigantia’s first Infosec exhibition was a blast. Together with our vendor partners, Heimdal and Sendmarc, we met many potential new partners. We spoke to hundreds of people from all walks of life and saw a dizzying array of talks.
The exhibition was a great indicator of the sector's health. With that in mind, it seems the perfect time to reflect on four things I learned.
Cybersecurity is still a growing market
First, a brief Brigantia history lesson. In 2016, we decided to focus solely on cybersecurity distribution. The reasons were simple.
We thought it was a growth market because people increasingly relied on complex IT systems. This created a greater need for high-quality, specialised protection, which we could help the channel provide.
Fast-forward to 2024, and it's still a growth market. Infosec was packed with exhibitors, industry insiders, journalists, students, and business leaders looking to learn more. All our market research confirms huge growth potential for MSPs providing cybersecurity, and Infosec vividly illustrated that point.
Everyone wants simplicity
As IT infrastructure has become more complex, so have the cybersecurity challenges businesses face. While people acknowledge that complexity, they want cybersecurity to be simple.
We spoke to countless business leaders from various sectors, and they almost all had this in common. Yes, they want robust protection, but they want it to be manageable for their workload.
MSPs should see this attitude as an opportunity. The channel's ability to simplify customers' lives is a huge selling point. It was also great to exhibit with Heimdal because simplicity is precisely what they offer—a unified platform that provides an incredible range of services from a simple interface.
It's a great reminder of Heimdal's value to MSPs. It protects your customers without compromising their (or your) productivity.
There's nothing like a live demo
Speaking of Heimdal, one of the highlights on our stand was Imran Rai, Heimdal's Technical Success Manager. Imran demonstrated Heimdal's ability to protect against ransomware by running a live attack.
He deployed a command to encrypt files using a real-world malware strain. The first time around, Heimdal's Ransomware Encryption Protection was switched off, and all the files were encrypted. He then reran it with Ransomware Encryption Protection switched on.
This almost instantly blocked the attack, sent an alert and created an automated report on the attack and its origin. It was a brilliant moment and a perfect example of the power of a live demo.
DMARC is big news
DMARC was a relatively obscure topic even within the channel this time last year. That's all changed now. Gmail and Yahoo made many headlines when they announced they would start blocking senders without DMARC policies. Meanwhile, with a properly configured policy, businesses can keep their domains open to spoofing.
We anticipated this when we brought the launch of Sendmarc forward. They joined us at our stand, and the event was all the better. We fielded a massive volume of queries on DMARC, one of the event's hottest topics.
This is another area where the channel can help, and Sendmarc is the best platform. It will improve your customers' email deliverability and security in the most MSP-friendly way possible.
Our team is brilliant
Granted, I already knew this, so it's not strictly accurate to say I learned it! But our team represented Brigantia so well that I felt compelled to mention them.
Our team's knowledge and commitment to partners are essential to our broader mission, and I’d like to thank all of them for making Infosec 2024 such a success for Brigantia.
Infosec confirmed that we're on the right track regarding staying ahead of the curve, protecting businesses, and helping our partners increase their revenue. This is a great time to be part of Brigantia. If you're an MSP looking to make the most of the latest opportunities in cybersecurity, get in touch, and I know we'll be able to help.
